Corps: Missouri River Dam Storage Continues Decline. Yankton Press & Dakotan, 21 October 2004.

Water stored in the six Missouri River reservoirs continues to decline as drought conditions persist across much of the basin. Releases from the reservoirs are being reduced this week, signaling the end of the commercial navigation season.

A man who said his name was Mashanaposhe, from South Dakota's Pine Ridge Indian reservation, said the protesters want to teach the true history of the Lewis and Clark expedition. "We believe the history of Lewis and Clark is a lie. We want them to go home.” he said.

Corps officials outnumbered the public at Thursday's hearing in Yankton on building sandbar habitat for the least tern and piping plover on the upper Missouri River. The two birds have been listed as endangered and threatened species.
