With the recent completion of the third building on site at the facility, the Recovery Plan for the Propagation and Culture of the Endangered Species -- pallid sturgeon is considered a success. The Yankton site was designated the lead facility in the federal plan, which was initiated in 1992 after the sturgeon was determined to be an endangered species.
